Our approach

We concentrate on three key areas that promote systemic change globally: unlocking landscape and bioregional finance, fostering decisions that connect people and nature, and advancing knowledge related to integrated landscape approaches.

PCL partners with communities and organizations worldwide to promote sustainable land and seascape management. Drawing on decades of experience in community engagement, finance, and land stewardship, we focus on finding practical ways to link people and nature through better planning and funding. Our partners include local groups, regional networks, investors, businesses, and government agencies.

At the same time, we provide strategic support to the broader multi-organizational initiatives building the global architecture for transformation. This dual focus allows us to deliver services at both levels: helping bold place-based initiatives succeed and ensuring that the systems built to support them are grounded, effective, and scalable.

  • Persimmon Co-Lab designs, supports, and advocates for innovative financing solutions that channel climate, biodiversity, and development investments directly to frontline communities and coalitions.

    Our work includes:

    • Building tailored finance strategies for communities partners working to advance towards integrated land-use management.

    • Helping values-aligned investors and companies adopt landscape-based approaches.

    • Unlocking capital flows that improve livelihoods, regenerate nature, and strengthen climate resilience.

  • We strengthen governance and decision-making systems that allow sustainable land-use management to operate at scale.

    Our work includes:

    • Developing and sharing learning cases and decision-support guidance

    • Guiding applied and engaged learning and planning towards improved governance.

    • Designing learning systems and impact evaluation at different scales.

  • We seek to connect practitioners, students, and researchers to accelerate innovation, learning, and application.  

    • Co-develop projects that address knowledge needs and gaps 

    • Co-lead and contribute to communities of practice and foster peer-to-peer learning that informs application
